SCIENCE

In Science, pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas and processes. They are encouraged to develop skills of prediction, ask questions, and make sensible evaluations based on their first hand observations and experiences.

We live in an increasingly scientific and technological age where children need to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitude to prepare them for life in the 21st century. At Green Meadow Independent school we believe that the teaching of science develops an interest and curiosity about the world in which they live, and fosters in them a respect for the environment.

At Green Meadow School we provide a high-quality science education that provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and all pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and then develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.
